SERIOUS FIRE
(From Our Own Corresponuent)
At about 2 o’clock this morning the dwelling of Air A. Hedwig, of Donnelly’s Creek, together with the contents were totally destroyed by fire. This property formerly belonged to Air James AVoolhou.se, late of Ross. Air Hedwig was at the time an inmate of Westland Hospital. Mrs Hedwig, one son and one daughter, were the only- occupants at tho time of the outbreak aiul had just time to escape in their night attire. The premises were well out of reach of the town water supply, and the Brigade which turned out, put their energies into saving the outbuildings with buckets of water. The cause of the outbreak is at present unknown. Insurances on the contents of the house were £2OO in the Royal Insurance Company. The insurance on the house is not yet available.
