“THE MAGIC FLAME,” TO-NIGHT.
According to Samuel Goldwvn, its producer, “The Magic Flame,” which comes to the Princess Theatre tonight was made for the-entire world and can never be classified as being a “truly American” or, for that matter, as a “foreign” .picture. Like Shakespeare and the comic; strips, its story is intended to entertain anyone, regardless of nationality or language. When Goldwvn decided to make the Lotliar play, “King Harlequin” as a Henry King production, the necessity of its universal appeal was thoroughly discussed before a serene was filmed. The leading roles are - played, of course, by ltonald Column, an Englishman, and ViJma Banky, horn a Hungarian but Americanised by her marriage to Rod La Itocque. Augustino llorgato, an Italian who toured the world with Duse, creates the character of Bkretti, the circus owner. Shirley Palmer, a Chicago girl' who two years ago attended the University of ■Chicago, plays the role of the Marquisa, while her screen husband is Cosmo Kyrle Bellew, former member of the English .secret service, and the son of Kyrle Bollew, the actor. Harvy Clark, who portrays De Bono, chief aide of the Prime Minister of Illyria, is a native New Englander, n descendant of Henry W. Longfellow. Gustave von Seyffertitz, a German, nnd Vadim Uraneff, a Russian, complete the foreign members of the' cast.
A Topical, Scenic and Comedy will also be shown to-night. On Tuesday Florence Vidor and Gary Cooper in “Doomsday.” On Wednesdhy Dolores Costello in “Old San Francisco.”
