BORING GRUB FOUND. (By Telegraph—Prose Association).
GISBORNE, Nov. 27
Some alarm has been caused amongst the natives hv a discovery that kumaras, containing the boring grub, have been imported from Fiji and sold at Gisborne. The knniara represents tho staple crop of the Maori population and the introduction of the pest would be a serious matter.
WOOL SALES.
AUCKLAND, Nov. 27
At Ithe wool sale 22,500 bales were offered and very few passed. Recent southern values were generally maintained, with more comprehensive buying. Bellies and pieces sold particularly well. Top price, 25 pence, was for super half-bred.
SWIMMER’S TOUR CANCELLED CHRISTCHURCH, November 27.
The New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association has decided to cancel arrangements made with Australia for a tour in New Zealand by Weissmuller, the world’s champion sprint swimmer. This decision is due to the fact that the Australian Union has been unable to give definite information as to whether Weissmuller is coming to New Zealand. . ■

FOUND DEAD AT HOME
AUCKLAND, Nov. 27
Lieut. Col. O. E. Andrews, 0.8. E., A.A. and G.M.G. Northern Command, was found dead at his home at Remuera this morning. ll© had not lieen on duty since Friday. His wife is al>sent in the South Island.
