In the Commons, Hon. L. C. Amery informed Air Day that only New Zealand had passed legislation dealing with the Imperial Conference’s resolution dealing with the matter in 1926. In. January, a copy of the British Act, with a memorandum, was sent to all Dominions, at ter which there wore no further communications.
Mr Wodgewood Bonn inquired whether the consent of the House was sought before the Postmaster-Gonoral leased the beam system.
Air Baldwin, in reply, said: “ No,— that will lie done under the general powers of the Post Office Act, ol 1908.”
Mr Bonn: “Does this mean that the Postmaster-General will do this without the consent of the House and without being permitted to explain why ho does it?”
Air Baldwin: “Leasing is an integral part of the Bill setting up the Communications Company, which tho House j s now discussing.”
