Hurley crashed when leaving Tatm Aerodrome. The machine was almost, destroyed. The airmen are bruised.

Hurley writes that after conquer-' i,ur the* gale that swept the Mediterranean. we landed at Hens aerodrome in mud and slush. We decided we must leave immediately or remain indefinitely. The plane was just gaming speed when it struck a stretch and the wheels sank. '' o avoided a headlong crash into a ravine and hopped the chasm, but the wheels hit a high hank with terrific force and the machine somersaulted ami landed on its back and was wrecked. We wriggled out from the wreckage with minor cuts and abrasions;. We are determined to see the job through. The ‘Spirit of Australa ” survives. We propose to secure a new machine from England whirl, will cost, seventy five hundred. e foci confident our countrymen will stand iby us.
