Middlesex ' won on the first innings. ■Kent v. - Somerset. —-Kent, first 309 for 7 declared (Hardinge 73, Ashdown 97). Somerset, first 100, Marriott taking : 4 for 83. Somerset followed on aikl made 195 (.Hunt 53, Cresswell 58). Marriott taking 5 'for' 44. Kent won by'an innings l and 14 runs. * Surrey v. Notts. —Surrey, first 268 ‘(Hobbs 93). Sam" Staples took 5 for 113. Surrey, Second 183 for 3 (Hobbs not out 85, Ducat 56). Nottinghamshire, first' 324 ‘(Whysail 129). Notts won on the first innings.
Yorkshire v. : Lancashire.—Yorkshire first 352 (Sutcliffe 126, Holmes 54). MacDonald took 6 for 144. Lancashire first 244 for 3 (Watson 110, Makepeace not out 82). There was no play On the third day, and tile match was drawn.
Gloucestershire v. Hampshire—Gloucester first 368 (Hammond 67, Dipper 67, Seabrook 107); second innings 227 for 6 declared (Seabrook not out 69).
Hampshire first 150 (Sinfield taking 4 for 29) arid second 264 for 4 (Newman 92, 'Mead' not out 117). Gloucester won on the first innings. Essex v. Worcester. —Essex first 440 (O’Connor 94, Niebolls 58, Russell 153). Root took 6 for 104. Essex second 250 for 5 declared (Cawley 55, Ciitinore (59, O’Connor GO). Worcestershire first taking 5 for 80); second 97 for none (Wright not out 57). Essex won on the first innings.
‘West Indies v. Glamorgan.—West Indies first 327 (Cliallenor 55, Nunes not out 127) ; second 164, Ryan taking 7 for 62. Glamorgan first 256 (Riches 05, Small taking 5 for 62); second 10 for 3. Rain caused a stoppage, and the match was drawn.
For Warwickshire against Derbyshire, Bates made 90, W. Qunife, not out 115, Parson 114, and Calthorpe not out 71. Burnell took 5 for 63. For Derbyshire, Storer made 61, Bowden 92, and Lee 52 not out. Warwickshire won.
For Northamptonshire against Leicestershire, Brown made 59, and Wright 5 for 84. For Leicestershire, Astill made 80, and Smith took 4 for 14 and 5 for 82. Leicestershire won.
