CARROLL V. PURDY. WELLINGTON, Aug. 9.
To-night in the Town Hall, Jack Carroll (10,3), the welter-weight champion of Australia, defeated Charlie Purdy (9.12), the light weight champion of Australia and Netv Zealand, on points, after a fifteen rounds professional contest.
Purdy appeared to be out of condition. Carroll was more agghessive. The verdict was popularly received.
