The Upper House of Convocation of Canterbury, by eighteen votes to three on the motion of the Bishop of Gloucester, agreed that a committee of Bishops be appointed to draft a statement on the teaching of the Church of England, upon the doctrine of the Eucharist. The Bishop of Oxford seconded. The Bishop of Norwich opposed the measure, urging it was unwise at a tinie of bitter controversy to start discussions on holy mysteries. The Primate urged that the Bishops of Northern Province should be urged to join the committee, which was agreed to.
