Prior to the rep. Rugby match at Victoria Park, a hockey match between ladies’ teams representing Hokitika and Mawhera was played as curtain-raiser, the game resulting in draw—one all . The contest provided a good exhibition of hockey, lhe teams were well matched, and the scores give a fair indication of their respective merits and the even nature of the game. N.Z. REP TEAM. JUST WIN FINAL GAME. (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association. SYDNEY, August 31. The New Zealand hockey team won its final match in Australia to-day, against a Sydney team by 3 to 2. PALMERSTON NORTH, Augnst3l. The tourney was continued this afternoon a heavy thundertsorn unfortunately marring the tail end of the day’s play. Additional results nre:—Runtime A 7 beat Wairarapa 2, Manawatu A 6 boat Wellington 2, Feilding nil drew with Runhine B nil South Canterbury 1 beat Runhine B nil Southland 5 boat King Country nil. N.Z. HOCKEY TEAM. SYDNEY, Sept. 1. The New Zealand Hockey team finished its tour of Australia, with an unbeaten record. They played 14 games, won 12 and drew 2. They scored 109 goals while 14 were scored against them. The “Herald” says their performance is the best of any Dominion Hookey team that has played in Australia.
