Tiif. Vice-Regal visit on Saturday passed off very pleasantly. That essential element, the weather, was on its best behaviour, and the pleasing personalities of their Excellencies did the rest. All who saw and heard the Go-vernor-General were charmed with the hearing and manner of the King’s representative. His Kxi ellcncv proved to be most amiable and very earnest was lie in his address to the public. He struck a liigb note as to service and loyalty, and impressed the lesson on young and old. alike. The reception given to the party was hearty and loyal, and the visitors departed late in the afternoon, evidently very pleased and gratified with their day’s experience here. The- wish voiced by the County Chairman and others that time would be found later to - visit South "Westland, is one which there is some hope of seeing fulfilled. Both their Excellencies expressed a wish to return and see more of the country districts, and the settlers in the distant parts. His Excellency is bent evidently on seeing as much of the people as possible, and he desires, evidently, to sen them following their ordinary avocations. In a word he desires to know the people as they are. His Excellency made such a good impression on Saturday, that if ho finds it eonvenient to return again, his welcome will Ik l more hearty than it was mi the present occasion.
