RACING CLUBS CONFER
(By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian). RF.FUTON. April 22. Keprosentul ives of Racing and Trolling Club from Westport. Rectum. Grcymouth and Hokitika met last evening to consider the question ol arranging circuit dates tor the autumn and summer meetings. Air Eldon Coates (President of the District Racing Committed presided. A very lull ’discussion on various aspects took phue. and it was resolved to inborn the Racing Conference that, in view of the situation ot Nelson and Marlborough Clubs and lack of community interest, it was not possible to include those localities in the West Coast cir-
\ number ol suggestions regarding, local arrangements were made. hut without reaching any conclusion. It was finally resolved that in view o! the local conditions prevailing. the Dates Committee of the Racing Conference he notified it, was not considered advisable to disturb the present arrangements hut that the matter ol the selection of dates be lett to tne individual Clubs to til in with their own circumstances.
It was re.-olved to urge, the Minister of Internal Affairs to bring in relief taxation for Clubs needing financial help next racing season, ami also to ask the Minister of Railways to revert to the pre-war tariff' for the transport of horses to and from race meetings, to ensure a larger number ot outside entries for Coast meetings.
Before the conterence concluded, a vote of svmpathy with the Prime Minister in his illness was adopted unaniiiunislv.
