TILDEN NOT TO PLAY. AUSTBAT.IAN AND NCABLE ASSOCIATION. NEW YORK, March 24. The United States Lawn Tennis Associatior .nnounced that Tilden will not defend the world title at Wimbledon next summer. The reason is heavy expense involved in sending the leading American player abroad and the effect of such a trip on the player. The Association added that Tilden is willing to go but, in view of the sharp Davis Cup contest anticipated and the fact that Tilden returned in bad condition from last year’s trip do England, it is considered best that be remain in the United• States? /C
