POLLARD’S PICTURES. DOUBLE STAB PROGRAMME. MONDAY. On Monday next Pollards arc screening another double star feature programme, Olivo Thomas is featured in Selznick’s latest comedy drama of Five | Act's, “The Flapper” and a special feature by Maurice Tourneur, entitled “My Lady’s Carter.” Maurice Tourneu has made a thrilling motion pic- ' ture out of Jaques Futrelles wellknown mystery romance, “My Lady’s Carter,” which is to lie shown at the Princess Theatre on Monday. The story centres round the- pursuit of a baffling international thief, known as 1 “The Hawk.” and involves the love affair of a young Englishman who was for a time suspected of being "the criminal, and the daughter of a railroad magnate. The plot is spirited in the extreme, and involves such thrilling I scenes ns the near crash of two railroad I trains, an exciting pursuit on the water in yachts and the escape of “The Hawk” by a leap from a second story window and his final end in motor-boat explosion. Wyndham Standing. Sylvia Brenmer and Holmes E.' Herbert arc. included in the east of the picture. Tt was produced with all of Maurice Tourneur’s gift for artistic and lavish attention to detail. Tn “The Flapper” Selznic.k’s latest comedy drama.-beautiful Olive Thomas is seen at her very best.

The story tell a simple tale of a simple people, ami i> produced in a splendid manner. It has two principal characters, one: the sym pathetic, kind-hearted, lovable old man, and tin oilier, the cold, cruel, calculating mail of iiuanee. Ho loved her. and yet he did not have the courage to confess it. Did lie win or lose by so doing Their love is sacrificed on tin. altar of friendship, leaving only t 1 bitter sweet memories of what, might have been. “ Change the subject, please; I cannot carry you.” But she did not know what subtle forces wore to bo used to make her fall in with if man’s wishes. Two men and a. girl. One wooed and wed her yet to neither was she long to remain. She died and in her place left a tiny rose-bud—and the two men watched her grow up jealously. Also a great two-reel comedy ontitbd “ Laughing Gas.” and further chapters of the sec-rial “ Vanishing Dagger.”
