AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. THE ARMAMENT CONFERENCE NEW YORK. August 9. The New York Times Washington correspondent states :—“Following up on receipt of Italy’s acceptance, November 11th has been fixed as the date for the armament conference. .Japan’s acceptance has also arrived. President Harding has now sent the formal invitations to the powers, except the British Dominions. It is felt hat if the Dominions are representel, their delegates will bo part of too British Government’s delegation. The United States wants the Conference limited to the fewest possible number of participants, and probably will adopt th Paris pence conference principle of a small group of conferences. President Harding and Hughes are also consuLr ing the question of publicity. The tendency appears to he against open . sions. The United States, however, will seek to have a full explanation of fbConference proceedings furnish *.l to the press.
