The “Morning Post’s” Tientsin correspondent• says':—“Fifty thousand Republican troops are converging on Pekin, where Chang Hsun’s forces are three thousand. Tuan Chi Jui in an ultimatum promised Che Royalists lenient treatment if they lay down their aims. Hsu Chou Fu is deserting Chang FI sun. The latter is reported to be arranging to transfer the Emperor to .Jehol;
FIGHTING IN PROGRESS
PEKIN, July a.
Chang Shun’s Royalist troops. are fighting a large force bf Republicans 35 miles from Pekin. It is feared that Chang Shun’s position is hopeless. His troops have tom up the railway at Lang Sang midway between Tientsin and Pekin.
It is understood that foreign Powers are sending detachments to restore the railway communication. British French, Japanese and American troops are proceeding to Pekin to reinforce the Legation guards.
