RETURNED SOLDIERS' BALL.

A GREAT SUCCESS

,Tke Returned Soldiers' Ball, which was held at the Winter Show Building last evening, was well attended, over 180 couples being present. The hall was neatly decorated with streamers of crepe paper and baskets of ferns lent by Mrs Lovell, the effect being simple ; but very effective. The floor was in I very good order, and the Premier Or-' chestra supplied the music. A sump- \ tuous supper was laid, and altogether ' the ball was considered the most en- j joyable held during the last few years. ' The M.C.'s were Messrs D. Burgess (in charge), H. L. Spratt, E. Hardley, E. Bremner, R. Hollard, and L. I. Marter, who were attentive to their duties. The ladies' committee, who did excellent work in arranging the supper, were: Mesdames Lovell, King, Rudge, Spragg, L. A. Taylor, Hobbs. Old, Frisk, Herbert, L. H. Arnold, Tait, Misses Harvey, Corrigan, Hutton. The general committee was Messrs Hollard, J. A. Cameron, L. Marter, H. Briggs, E. Hardley, and R. Allan, and the secretaries Messrs D. Burgess and I*. I. Marter. The arrangements were in every way complete, and great credit is due to all who assisted to make the ball such an outstanding success
