A reputation, representing twenty toatmfaeturers' associations, interviewed Mr. Ramsay MaeDonald (Prime Minister) and Mr. Sidney Webb (President of the Board of Trade), urging & reduction in taxation, which is oppressing industry; the extension of the oporation. of export credits and trade facilities; the, establishment of a definite basis of trade with Russia, giving exporters security; the discovery of some basis of negotiation to meet the high tariffs, which are excluding many classes of goods from France, Italy, and th© United States; negotiation for some reasonable preference for British manufacturers in India and Egypt; the introduction of legislation to control the purchases of British pubb'o bodies abroad; an amendment to the Merchandise Marks Act, in view of the continued sale of foreign goods as British; the continuation of Mr. McKenna's duties ou motor cars and musical instruments^ and an extension of the operation of the second part of the Safeguarding of Industries Act. Mr. Mac Donald promised consideration the representations.
