HASTINGS. Jan. 2. For the. second day of the Hawke's Bay meeting there was splendid weather and a good attendance. The sum of £17,677 was put through the machine, compared with £14,109 on the second clay last year, an increase of £3560. January Handicap.—Mosthenes 1. Simonette 2, Haurangi 3 All started Won by a nose. Time 1.21. Nursery Handicap—Fallodean 1, Polly Peachame 2, Polly Astra 3. Scratched: Zaza. Won by two lengths Time, 1.10.
