HASTINGS. Jan. 2. For the. second day of the Hawke's Bay meeting there was splendid weather and a good attendance. The sum of £17,677 was put through the machine, compared with £14,109 on the second clay last year, an increase of £3560. Jumpers' Flat.— Whariti 1, Buckeye 2, Silver Stride 3. All started. Won by five lengths. Time. 2.101-5. Electric Handicap.—Stymie 1 Esquimaux 2, Road Hog 3. Scratched: Sangfroid. Won by three-quarters of a length. Time, 1.15 4-5
January Handicap.—Mosthenes 1. Simonette 2, Haurangi 3 All started Won by a nose. Time 1.21. Nursery Handicap—Fallodean 1, Polly Peachame 2, Polly Astra 3. Scratched: Zaza. Won by two lengths Time, 1.10.
New \ear Handicap.—First Salute 1, Valley Rose 2. Meg 3. Also started: Crown Star. Tari. Won by a length Time. 1.53 2-5. ° '
