ALLEGED ABSCONDER

ARRESTED AFTER NINE YEARS

(BY TE&EGBAPH — PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 29. Patrick Kelly, aged 37, who was arrested for drunkenness, was fined £2, and was further charged that he absconded in Wellington on April 14, 1914, when awaiting trial on a charge of manslaughter. The police stated that Kelly was employed by Kavanagh at Kaiwarra. It was alleged that he drove a dray at night without lights, and collided with a motor cyclist who was fatally injured. The driver of the dray was committed for trial and allowed bail. His arrest was entirely due to the finger print system, He was remanded to Wellington.
