RANFURLY SHIELD
HASTINGS. August 11. In a match for the Ranfurly Shield at Hastings to-day, Hawke's Bay (holders) were too good for Poverty Bay (challengers), winning by five unconverted tries (15) to nil. The ground was sodden and the ball greasy, but the display of football was exceptionally good under difficult circumstances. Tries were scored by C Brownlie, Mapu, Nepia, Mill and Daly.
