At the meeting of the Eltham County Council on Saturday Cr. McGuinness, who is a member of the Taranaki Power Board, mentioned that the board expected to be supplying electric" power in Eltham before Christmas. The Te Roti-Opunake railway is progressing. The Eltham County Council at their meeting on Saturday agreed to maintain warning boards at the railway crossings on the Duthie and Palmer. Roads. At the coroner's inquest, on Ealph Hogg, who was found hanging in a jrgravel pit near Wellington, it was | stated that deceased, who was a resident of Eastbourne, had been unsuccessful in business arid was worrying about his financial position. He was very depressed. A verdict of suicide by hanging was returned. An interesting discovery of tin has been, reported from the Northern Territory. The Commonwealth Minister for Home and Territories has received advice from the Administrator of the Northern Territory that the locality of the new find is on the west side of the King River, and 10 miles north of the crossing on the main road: between Katherine and Maranboy. King River is abouA 20 miles from the Katherine telegraph, station. Sis inches of clean tin ore specimens, which have been sent to Darwin, are stated to be practically clean tin, and to carry about f>3 per cent, of metal.
