UNFULFILLED PROMISES
BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION-^COPYBIGHI T . LONDON, Aug. 4. Lord Haig has published a letter ire-: minding the public of August 4 and that it is now nine years since the scrap of paper incident. He recalls the promises to the fighting men, and asks how they have been fulfilled. H« states that about 5000 ex-officers are still seeking work. A hundred thousand wholly or partially-disabled ex-service men are forced to look to charity to supplement their exiguous pensions, while 400,000 capable of working are unable to find it.' Lord Haig appeals for contributions to hie fund.
