EUCHRE TOURNAMENT AND DANCE.
The Friendly Societies' Social Club held a very successful euchie party and dance in the .Foresters' Hail on Tuesday evening, when about 40 tables took part in the game, the winner* being: Mrs. Ollerenshaw first, Miss French (McGruer, Bone and Co.'s prize), Mrs Doyle (O'Reilly and Walker's prize, Miss McAneny (Mrs. Carter's prize), and Miss llearn (Mr. , Harrop's prize); Messrs. Steffert first, < Bowman (George and Doughty's nrize), Sharrock (Tuinbull's prize), Loader (Bennett and Sutton's prize), and Warner (Mr, Horsburgh's prize). Messrs. Hearn and Cummings were card M.C.'s. The dance that followed was. largely attended, and the music was supplied by Mr. Renwick in his usual capable manner, extras being played by Mrs. Beauchamp and Misses Frank and Rene Muir, while Messrs. Hurley and Fryer were very energetic M.C.'s, and kept the dancers busy till an early hour. The catering, in the hands of Mesdames Hearn and Muir and their assistants, was all that could be desired. The following is the result of the first round for the shield (seven matches played); Foresters won 7, Card Club 5, Hnias 4, Fire Brigade 3, Oddfellows 3, Hibernians 3. Druids 3, and Railway 0. For the 'gold medal: J. M. Muir 53, J. Milner 51, C, Framnton 48, C. Bailey 48, W. O'Brien 46, C. Cummings 46, Perica 44, and T. Machin 43.
