LATE SIR W. FRASER.
UPPER HOUSE TRIBUTES

WELLINGTON, July 17. In the Legisaltiye Council this afternoon formal notification was received that the sea,t occupied in the Chamber by Sir William Eraser had become vacant by his death.
Sir Francis' Bell said this brought home to the Council the great loss they had sustained. He desenbed Si r Wilnam Eraser as a man of great ability and worth, respected by all who knew a an, and one who had left, behind a record that anyone might be proud to live up to. He Hioved a resolution recording Sir William Eraser's services to the country, and symapthy. with the relatives.
This was seconded by Sir W. HallJones, and spoken to* by the Hons. Sir E. M^tchelson, J. Grimmond Sir W: C BuchAian, J. B. Cow; R.-Moore. and R. Scott. The motion was agreed to, and at 3.5 p.m. the House rose as a mark of respect to Sir, W.. Eraser's memory.
