TAWHITI SCHOOL.
I —«—. i On Friday afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Bailey, of Wanganui, oalled at the Ta~ whiti school and gave a very interesting entertainment consisting of songs, , sketches, and elocutionary numbers. ; Before commencing the programme, ! Ml*. Bailey briefly addressed the chil- ., d.ien on the ..importance of elocution , in everyday life, and gave them some I very useful information on this import- ' ant subject. ; j Then then entertained the children! and teachers for nearly an hour. Among i . their numbers were two songs "Tii'e (Swallows" and "Jammy Face," by Mrs. j Bailey; the sketches -'Hanging the [Picture," "Writing a Play," and ''Afternoon Tea at Paul's," by Mr. and Mrs. Bailey; recitation, "The Goblings will get You,'' Mrs. Bailey; the-| recitations, "Snorkins,'' "What is a Gentleman?" "Buying a Pair of Gloves," and several impersonations by j Mr. BaiJey. The children were keenly interested in every item and showed then- appreciation in hearty applause. The headmaster, in returning thanks 011 behalf of the teachers and pupils, said that the visit was all the more appreciated in that Mr. and Mrs.. Bailey were on holiday and were, no doubt, anxious to get away from their I work for a while. ■ Their ' entertain-' j ment had been greatly appreciated, j and the children would look forward I to hearing them again on some future occasion.
