Oor-rospondence was read and dealt witii -as iollows :— -I'lrom A. H. Carey, asking for p*rnu&sioii to remove siguboarci. —Cirant-ed. jp'rom A. (i. Jiennett, stating that j agreements for ea-seiuents were reauy ! ror legistration. —Received. From same,, with copies of correspondence relating to laying pipes tnrough. native lands-. The .Native Laud Isoara stated that leases could not be granted for -mom than 50 years.—Received. From same, -stating that the Town Board could sell lands held in trust, providing thai 4>he purchase money be j expended on other lands to be held tor the purpose of the original trust ; also , that # the Board might lease same for ■21 years.—Resolved that a building ! allotment be suirveyed. j F,rom J. H. Horton, of the Empress Pictures, asking the Board to instal heaters in the Toavii Hall. —Resolved that the Board cannot see its way to grant the request. WATER SUPPLY. The foreman, Mr telinger, stated that the pipe laying had now readied the town on Manaia Road. He expected to be ready for the smaller yipes in about two months. -Cr. Innes. said he had been over the whole line recently, and considered the Board had got good value fox the money it had paid tor labour, it reflected credit on tlie ! foreman and stall:. in answer to. Cr. JNeilson, the forman said there would not be much advantage in making the ' house connections whilst tue mams were ' being laid, it woiud mean waste of . time. j it was resolved that the Jiorse and '' gig, not now needed by tlie foreman, i ue sold, and a bicycle purcliased for Ins use. GENERAL. An application from J. Emson for a culvert was leit in the Wo,rks Conimit- ', tee's hands. it was resolved that the Board accept the 50 years' lease of easements from natives, as suggested. it was resolved that C. Colthart be given notice to remove blackberry. The foreman's report was adoptea, as | read. Applications were received from persons willing to act as" custodian of the Town Hall and Women's Rest, and A. Davis was appointed. It was resolved that the Town Clerk's salary be £250 per year, and that he be given a bonus of £25 for work done in connection w.th the water and drainage account. Accounts amounting to £650 were passed for payment.
