UNACCEPTABLE TO FRANCE.
Received June 9, 8.45 a.m. * PARIS, June 8. The newspapers are practically unanimous that the German proposals are unacceptable. I The Petit Journal, after referring in prudent terms to a slight advance in the Note, says that unfortunately the > •guarantees offered are preceded and followed by unacceptable suggestions. The obvious purpose of the Note is by , pretence of general goodwill on the question of reparations to obtain -an international conference at which they j will barter. j The Petit Parisien remarks that it is sfliffieu.lt to imagine a more vague docu- j ment or one less satisfactory. There! <jan be no question at this time of a long detailed answer. j The Matin says the Reich, having omitted completely to allude to passive resitanee, it is probable the Note wills Tie considered absolutely 7iull.—Aus.N.Z.
