LOAN PROPOSAL
DEFEATED AT WANGANUI

WANGANUI, May 2. The Council's £100,000 loan for water extension proposal, which ma preliminary count on the night of the municipal election was declared to have been carried by 26 votes, turns out on the official recount to have been lost by 57 votes. A large number of votes tentatively rejected as informal were accepted on the official scrutiny as valid.
