INFLUX OF CRIMINALS.
EXCHANGE OF DETECTIVES
PROPOSED,
"»Y CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION — COPYRIGHT SYDNEY, Jan. 5. (Received Jan. 5, 9.15 a.m.) The Daily Telegraph, dealing with the influx of criminals and the need for an exchange of detectives, says that attempts to establish a scheme for the interchange of detectives between New South Wales failed owing to the lack of interest displayed by the Dominion authorities. Arguing on the value of such an exchange the Telegraph states that New South' Wales recently suffered from an epidemic of safe-blowing. There were fifteen cases in a few months, and when the offender's were caught they proved to be NeAV Zealand criminals. Had New Zealand had detectives serving here, like other States have, the epidemic might have been, effectively handled.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
