CRICKET.

VISIT OF ENGLISH TEAM.

NO TARANAKI MATCH

KEEN DISAPPOINTMENT FELT.

Taranaki has been omitted from the itinerary of the English team ©f cricketers, captained by A. C. MacLaren, which sailed on September 30 for New Zealand and Australia. When the tentative itinerary for the visit was forwarded to the North Taranaki Cricket Association a week or so ago it was noticed that no Taranaki match had been included, either for the north end or for the south, end of the province. Protest was at once made to the New Zealand Cricket Council, but without effect, as that body has now forwarded to the association what is regarded as the final itinerary. It reads:.

December 8, 9, 11—v. Auckland, at' Auckland. December 13, 14—v. 13 from North Ss^ land West Coast Minor Associations (North and South Tarariaki, Wanganui, Rangitikei, Manawatu, and Waikato), at Wanganui. December 16, 18, 19—v. Wellington, a€ Wellington. December 23, 25, 26—v. Canterbury, at Christchurch. December 30, January 1, 2 —Play First Test at Wellington. January 5, 6, B—Play Second Test atf Christchurch. January 9, 10—v. Thirteen from South. Canterbury, Ashburton, and "North Otago Minor Associations, at Timaru. January 12, 13, 15—v. Otago, at Dunedin. January 17, 18, 19 —Visit Lake Wakatipu. January 20, 22—v. Southland, at Invercargill. January 26, 27, 29—Play Third Test at Wellington. January 30, 31 —v. Thirteen from Nelson and Marlborough Minor Associations, at Nelson. February 3, s^-v. Thirteen from North Island Minor Associations (Wairarapa, Hawke's Bay, Poverty Bay, and Wairoa Associations), at Napier. February 7, 8, 9 —Visit Rotorua. February 10, 12, 13—v. Auckland, at Auckland. Keen disappointment has been felt in cricketing circles here at the noninclusion of Taranaki in the visitors* tour. It is pointed out that when Lord Hawke's team toured New Zealand several years ago a match was allotted to both North and South Taranaki. In anticipation of the Englishmen visiting the province a special pitch has been laid down. It is understood that the North Taranaki Cricket Association does not intend to take the latest reply as final, and further representatons are being made—News.
