CHINA

BELLIGERENT FACTIONS,

BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT

PEKIN, April 27. A hundred and seventy American marines have arrived to protect the American Legation, while the British Legation guard is also being strengthened.

There is little hope of averting trouble between the belligerent Chinese factions, although efforts at mediation continue. A very large exodus of tourists from the city is occurring. Three thousand of General Wu Pei Fu's soldiers are reported to be marching on Pekin.
