MANCHESTER TRADE.
IMPORTANT GATHERING
BY CABLE—PBESS ASSOCIATION— COP FRIGHT LONDON, April 25. References to Anzac Day were the predominant note at the luncheon to Australian visitors to Manchester, given by the directors of the Trafford Park estates and the port of Manchester warehouses. Mr. . Marshall Stevens, M.P., who presided, in giving the toast of "Anzac," said there could be no more fitting day for the representatives of Australia to meet the representatives of business people in* Manchester to consider the conquest of an important market. Mr. Stevens suggested that the producers should utilise Manchester as the tradesmen's entrance leading direct to j&he kitchens of industrial England. Sir James Mitchell (Premier of Western Australia), replying, feelingly referred to the Australian and New Zealand untrained soldiers, fresh from civilian life, who fought side by side with the British army seven years ago. Mr. Jowett expressed heartfelt thanks on behalf of the mothers and fathers and relatives of the Australian fallen. Previously the visitors had inspected tho Trafford Park estate and warehouse company's wool and cotton stores, as well as the cold storage, engineering and other works. They were particularly interested in the Metropolitan (Vickers) electrical, works, wherein a number of Australian university graduates are completing their course of engineering. ,
