NORMANBY, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 26.

The fourth annual Normanby sports meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 26, when a full programme of events will be competed for. The running events, under the New Zealand Athletic Association rules, consist of 100, 220, 440 and 880 yards handicaps, nominations for which close on Friday, April 21, also primary schools championships and 440 yards handicap for boys tinder 18 years of age. A number of horse events, including pony jumping and hunters' competition, should draw good entries, and a tug-o'-war is expected to provide a good contest. The catering will be in the capable hands of Mrs Foster. Given favourable weather a most successful gathering is assured, as the committee is sparing no effort to put the grounds, which are equal to any in the district, in good order for the meeting. A concert by a troupe of Maori entertainers and' a dance will be held in the evening.
