I The dacing parties held by the com--1 mittee of the Mountain Queen candidate were brought to a close on Wednesday evening with a ball. The Town Hall was nicely decorated, and was filled to overflowing with merry dancers. , The ball was a huge success in every detail. The music was supplied by Ren- ' wick's Orchestra, of Hawera, and gave more than satisfaction. 'The supper was supervised "by Mesdame& Halpini and Gumming. .'During the evening, Little i Miss Reilly gave a Dutch dance, which I was most heartily applauded and en- , cored, the dress enhancing the graceful dance. I Mr Heyes, chairman of the committee, thanked those present for their atI tendance, also all those who worked so j hard in making the function the great success it was. He also expressly wished to thank Mesdames Halpin and Cumming, and on behalf of the committee he took the opoprtunity of presenting | them with a piece of Doulton ware as a I mark of appreciation. He expressly wished Mrs Gumming "who is leaving our town," health, and prosperity, and Mrs Halpin he hoped would carry on the good work she was doing in helping the town where help was needed. The duties of M.'sO. were carried out by Messrs D. Clements, N. G. Winters L. Page and A. Gilliv.er. Dancing was kept up until late in th« morning.
