A NEW WITNESS

JSaunlton, a new witness and son of -another witness, said that on Easter ,Sunday. just as it was getting dark, j ie saw the prisoner alone with a gun ;|ollowing the fence line going away from the bridge. Asked by the Crown Prosecutor why fee had not given this information before, witness replied that he did not want to get mixed up with the case, but when Jje discovered the seriousness .-oftheaffair he gave an honest account of what he stf*r to Detective 'Sweeney. Asked by counsel for the prisoner whether he spoko English, witness at first would not reply. Later, when pressed, he admitted that he spoke it Tery little. In a further reply to Mr. Ham^son, witness said he was cantering his horse when he met accused. Prisoner's back "was turned towards him, and witness -did not call out anything or pull up. He ,did not tell anyone that night or tiexfc day that Tie had seen accused. "Witness was quite aware of his mother j and brother, having given evidence at j -«ach of the previous trials. j
