Walter Dear, a soldier settler at the Ahiaruhe Soldier Settlement, while staying at the Marquis Hotel, last night, in his sleep, at three o'clock in the morning, opened his bedroom .window. • 16 feet from the ground, and stepped -tout. He was picked up with his face Wat and braised and both wrists broken. He was attended by Dr. Eclle and two medical students in the Otago football team. He was admitted to the Masterton hospital.
