MEETING AT KAPON*GA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
A meeting of Jersey breeders from South. Taranaki was held in the offices of Messrs Newton King, Ltd., Kaponga, on Tuesday night, to discuss the approaching sale of pedigree Jersey cattle, twenty-two breeders being prJ^ent. Mr, A. H. Guy was elected chairman, and. in the course of his remarks dwelt upon the success of last year's sale and appealed to all present to- endeavour to maintain the high standard achieved. The following resolutions were carried: Sale to be held in Newton King's Kaponga yards on Monday, Qctober 3, 1921; a distinctive catalogue was approved and adopted ; clients may take -full page in catalogue if so desired., to pay for same pro rata; that all cows otfered at the sale are to carry the vendor's" written guarantee as to soundness and butter fat capacity (cow in this instance to mean an animal that has had one calf or more). A full discussion was held on this latter resolution, and it was carried unanimously, the idea being to prevent the offering of cull animals, j the opinion of the meeting being that cull animals shouldbbye y sold at the ordinary stock sales.
It was decided that all offered are to be branded With the breeder's reigstered brand. This is one''of the rules of the New Zealand Jersey Breeders' Association^ and is to be rigidly enforced. executive committee, consisting of Messrs A. H. Guy.-Thos. Linn, and D. P. Malone was appointed to confer with Messrs' Newton King, Ltd., on any matter requiring immediate attention."
' Places in the catalogue were drawn for, and all later entries coming in will be drawn by the executive. Entrjes have come in very freely, and, with the others that are still to come, will assure a full catalogue, consisting of over one hundred highly bred animals.
' t It was decided to commence preparing the catalogue immediately, and it is hoped to have it in the printer's hands in the- course of a few days.
