BANNED LITERATURE
POSSESSORS PROSECUTED. (by telegeaph-—imiess association.) . WELLINGTON, Aug. 12. I Allegations of being in possession of. banned literature were made against two young mOn and a young woman at I the Magistrate's Court. William Blair j was charged with having sold tcT'Cou- '■ stable Dawe the "Australian Com- ) munist" (which encourages violence1 and lawlessness) and other banned publications. George Wilkinson was accused of having been found in_pos- ! session of the prohibited newspaper, • "Knowledge and Unity,", and "Inside . the Soviet of Russia." Hedwic Weitzell, the female defendant, was charged ' with having sold to Constable McKay ' the "Communist," which encourages [ violence. Accused were remanded. j In regard to Blair, Detective An-. Drews said that- since the summons was ! served it transpired that defendant j had endeavoured to leave the country. ! He obtained a steamer ticket under an i assumed name, and was found aboard the Manuka.
