TOLL GATES

MOTOR TRADERS FAVOUR THEM

(by telegkaph—prkps association.. WELLINGTON, Feb. 17. The meeting of local motor traders •discussed th c question of toll-gates as a means of solying the question of good roads. Several speakers spoke strongly in favour of toll-gates. It was considered^ however, that they should be under Government, and not local, supervision, and with this provision the meeting passed -a. recommendation to the national executive in their favour. Mr Stuart, Wilson, who at one time was a strong .opponent of toll-gates, has altered his mind since' seeing Taranaki roads, which he considers are the t.est in the Dominion, and have only Hbeen made possible by toll bars Everyone there, he says, is in favour or them. .
