The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. (Stratford) report as follows:

On Friday, the 11th inst., we held our annual sheep fair.at Matau to a full yarding of both sheep and cattle. There was also a large attendance of farmers present. Sheep yarded were in good condition, the lambs being a good average lot. All the cattle pens were full, but competition was dull. For the sheep competition was good, and vendors met the market. Practically all the sheep yarded were sold. Prices: Forward lambs 13s 6d to 13s lOd, store lambs 9s lid to lis, culls 3s 9d to ss, 2-tooth wethers 17s 2d to 18s 9d, 2-tooth ewes 15s to 15s 6d, f.f.m. ewes 16s td 18s 2d, f.m. ewes 12s 3d to 13s 4d, lS^nonth heifers £4 10s, 2^-year steers £5 16s to £6 10s, 3-J-year steers £8, 2j-year heifers (r.w.b.) £6 10s.
