AEROPLANE DISASTER
DIFFICULTY OF RESCUE
BY CABLS—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT
(Reuter.) Received Dec. 16, 11.25 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 14
The Handley Page machine struck a house, which was partly demolished, and then rebounded into a tree. A portion of the machine remained suspended in the tree, and the rest fell to the ground, where it blazed fiercely and prevented efforts to rescue those imprisoned in the wreck. Their cries were agonising.
