LAND BALLOT
SOLDIER SETTLEMENTS.
Ballots for a number of sections of land.in Taranaki open for settlement by returned 'soldiers were held yesterday at the office of the Land Board, New Plymouth (reports the News). The blocks were the Kohura and Marco estates (McCutchan's) at Kohuratahi, and the Huatoki area (Saxton s). Of the Kohura sections, four were disposed of by ballot and the remainder are still open for selection, as are also the three sections, comprising the Marco block, for which no applications were received. Ten Huatoki allotments were taken ut>, and the remaining twenty-seven, ranging in area from two acres to 23 acres, are still open. The ballots were conducted by the Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr G. H. Bullard) in the presence of members of the Board and applicants. Particulars are: KOHURA. Section 1 (88 acres), unapplied for. Section 2 (235 acres), G. H. Corbett.
