GUNN'S SENTENCE
CABINET'S CAREFUL EXAMINA-
TION OF EVIDENCE
(By Telegraph Special to Star.)
WELLINGTON, June 15. In connection with the decision not to interfere with the sentence of death passed on Gunn, the Auckland murderer, I am informed that Cabinet spent the whole morning considering the" Judge's report, examining fingerprints evidence, and petitions and appeals on prisoner's behalf. After the final decision arrive^ at, it was made known to members of Cabinet by the Minister of Justice that since his sentence, Gunn, who at first refused to allow a print to be taken of his palm, had consented to this course. The Minister had received the finger print expert's report on the palm print, and had it been favorable to prisoner it would have been communicated to the Governor-General and his advisors.
