THE TRAMWAY DISPUTE
(BY TELEGBAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.") | WELLINGTON, Jan. 7. \ At the conference with, the officials of the Tramway Federation yesterday, the Mayor of Wellington stated that he did not see any good would follow another Dominion conference. At the last conference, which was of the entire controlling authorities, it was held that a national agreement was impracticable owing to the widely different conditions in each centre. The Wellington City Council was quite prepared to at once open up negotiations for a new agreement for an increase in rates paid to tramwaymen. The rates of the Wellington men had been increased by Id per hour from January 1, in accordance with the recent announcement by the Arbitration. Court
