FUTURE FIGHTING SHIPS.

BY CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPYEIGHT

(Times.)

PARIS, Nov. 5. Admiral Daveling has issued a volume on the fighting ship of the future. He agrees with Lord Fisher on the question of speed and armament protection against submarines, and the necessity for : smokeless fuel. He goes much further ih the direction of a complete transformation of dreadnoughts, whose day is over. Their chief defect is that they are not equipped against torpedoes and mines, and the solution lies in a wide departure from the traditional formation.
