AN ESCAPING PARTY CAUGHT. TROUBLE IN SILESIA. ALLIED OCCUPATION PROBABLE. BY CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT LONDON. Aug. 19. The authorities in Berlin, learning that a party wasi aboard an express train conveying 20,000,000 marks to Switzerland, sent three aeroplanes in pursuit. The train was stopped and the smugglers arrested. LONDON, Aug. 18. The strike movement in upper Silesia is spreading. Ninety per cent, of the workmen are idle. Riots have broken out. Demands include the abolition of the .state of siege, and the reopening of the frontiers to prevent famine. Allied military occupation is probable, as the Supreme Council has asked tlie leaders to take steps to remedy the instability of the situation. COPENHAGEN, Aug. 19. The Polish revolts in Upper Silesia are spreading. The Lo'kal Anzeiger attribute's them to the fear of the result of the forthcoming vote regarding the territory's future. Troops have occupied all the mines to prevent sabotage. Rioters attacked the trains and barracks.
