Jtf (Received Aug. 6, 11.25 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 3. General Macßeady has cancelled all leave. It is believed that some who are absent under the guise of-leave .are actively encouragnig the stiike, and ■cancellation of leave wiili compel them .to demonstrate their real feelings.
. The Birmingham sitvration is serious. Four hundred out of 1200 police are involved. Organisers declare .that the tramway workers and the fire brigade \&ave-promised their support.
The looting of Liverpool shops was .Tenewed on night and. Sun<day, despite soldiers being drawn up in the streets. Jewellery, groceries, clothing and bootehops again suffered. The looters carried the spoils to their homes in the neighborhood of the streets and returned for more. They raided a .-sugar factory, also a beer bottling works. Men, women and boys laden with bottles of beer, paraded the streets •drinking; others rolled barrels of beer into the road, where crowds with cups and jugs, gathered round, dancing; and drinking. They- ran away when the troops arrived, but returned ;and chaffod the soldiers. Looters smashed thj windows of a music warehouse, dragged pianos on to the pavement, and played for dancers. Many looters wej^j-trr rested.
