THE MINISTER'S VETO

(BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION ) WELLINGTON, May 16. In oonnction with the appeal of \ N Longton, booking clerk, Lambtonl against the Railway Department's decision regarding his promotion on the ground that he lacked a sense of discipline, and whom the RaMway Appeal Board decided unanimously in favor of at the recent sitting, it is now announced that the Minister of Railways has used his power to veto and has reversed the decision of the Board. It is stated that this is the first occasion that the unanimous decision of the Board has been vetoed since the, late Hon. MiMillar was Minister of "Railways. It is understood that the Railway Officers' Institute and the A.S.R.S. will take action, as an important principle is involved.
