ELTHAM.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
On enquiry at the Eltham Special Hospital this morning I 'was informed tha^ there were 13 cases of influenza under treatment.
Mr Scott, formerly butcher at Ngaere, passed away at the Eltham Hospital this morning. Mr G. W. Tayler, chairman of the Hawera Hospital Board, authorises me to state that he will be pleased to receive offers of assistance from ladies who can give the time both at the Hawera and Eltham Hospitals. Will residents and visitors to the town please note that the inhalation chamber has been removed from the Municipal Buildings to the premises recently occupied by Taranaki Motors, Ltd., Bridge street east.
Eltham Druids will hear with, regret of the death of District President Geo. Longstaff, of Hawera, from the prevailing disease. Bro. Longstaff who installed all the officers of the lodges of the No. 5 (Taranaki) district last quarter, proved himself a very capable officer, and had a thorough knowledge of the laws of the Order. He. will be greatly missed in Druidic circles.
With so many other medicos down Dr Cooper is having a very trying time, and is in great demand. He is, however, facing the position cheerfully and doing splendid work.^Mr O'Hagan, our chemist, is temporarily laid aside, and Mr H. H. Baber has left his farm in other hands to take Mr O'Hagan's place.
