JOLL PARK. The annual meeting of ratepayers and rentpayers was held on Monday evening. Thirteen settlers attended, Mr E. 0. Chivers being in the chair. The balance-sheet, which showed a credit balance of £21 4s lid, was adopted. The following were elected a committee for the ensuing term: Messrs L. Houlahan, E. 0. Olivers, W. Hollis, T. Carman, E. J. Betts, J. Barclay, and E. G. Betts. Messrs Chivers and E. G. Betts were re--elected chairman and secretary respectively. . The committee met at the park on Wednesday afternoon, when it was decided to carry out certain improvements and to notify tne various clubf which have used the park in the past to clear away material belonging to them. It Tvas also decided to call for tenders for the right to graze the park for the ensuing twelve months with sheep and calves. SOCIAL. The annual social and election of a committee in connection with the local hall took place on. Tuesday evening, when there was a very good attendance. The social took the form of a dance, the music for which was supplied by Miss Gardiner. The balancesheet, showing a credit balance of £16 19s 10d, was adopted. The following were elected a committee for the ensuing year: Messrs Houlahan, Hollis, Ward, Williams, Barclay, Baker, O. Crawford, Mitchell and Mesdames C. Murdoch and W. Baker. & GIFT DAY. The local Women's Patriotic Committee held .another gift day for comforts for the boys- in the trenches on Monday last. ' There was again a liberal response to the appeal, the sum of £14 9« being subscribed, while a further sum of £2 has, been promised. The committee desires to express its sincere thanks to all those who subscribed.
